Weston governance committee adopts 11-month plan for May 2025 town meeting
WESTON — February 29, 2024 — Weston Town Governance Study Committee sets February 2025 deadline for town meeting recommendations. Chair Harvey Boshart told members Thursday that recommendations must be essentially final 11 months from now to leave room for revisions before the May 2025 Annual Town Meeting. The committee split into working groups: Michael Harrity and John Thompson on the timeline; Kara Fleming and member Glenn on an initial Google-form survey asking residents for "three good things and three bad things" about town governance; Town Moderator Rip Hastings and Glenn on an inventory of every town board, its terms and appointing authority; and Boshart on resident engagement. Harrity also briefed the group on the parallel Unified Planning Committee, which is producing Weston's first master plan since 1965 under Chair Laurie Hess and expects to select a consultant in early April. Thompson warned against scope creep: "Eleven months is going to go quick." Next meeting March 21 at 4 p.m.
