Weston Fire Station Working Group adjourns, forwards $41.1 million plan to Select Board

WESTON — December 18, 2025 — Weston's Fire Station Working Group voted to adjourn indefinitely at its December 18 meeting, sending its roughly 400-page Tecton feasibility report to the Select Board for action. The group spent the bulk of the session line-editing the executive summary, agreeing to add clearer language explaining why the study was undertaken, to note the School Committee's unanimous support for the recommended site on the high school-middle school campus, and to restructure a cost table on page 144 that members said mixed superseded estimates with current figures. The recommended plan — a new primary fire station plus a limited Tier 3 renovation of the existing Center Street station — carries a total projected cost of $41.1 million, down from earlier estimates exceeding $60 million. Co-chair Tom said the report is scheduled for the Select Board's January 13 agenda, where the board will decide whether to pursue a funding request at the May 2026 Town Meeting; he noted that the town retains approximately $1 million of its original study authorization, with Vertex holding remaining fee capacity and Tecton having largely exhausted its current scope.
