Weston UPC advances comprehensive plan draft, targets late-January deadline

WESTON — December 22, 2025 — Weston's Unified Planning Committee pushed through three sections of its draft comprehensive plan on December 22, racing against a consultant budget that has already been extended once. Council on Aging Chair Danielle Black, chairing the session, warned that the issues-and-opportunities phase — originally due in October — must wrap up by February. Finance Committee representative Jon Harris presented a cost framework showing that each $1 million in capital spending adds roughly $16 to the town's approximately $19,500 median annual tax bill, meaning a hypothetical $400 million school project would raise the median bill by more than $6,400 per year, a shade over 30 percent. The committee agreed to strip a politically sensitive reference to water-tank antenna siting from the municipal services section and to replace it with language calling for a holistic wireless-coverage committee. Planning Board member Marga Hutcheson presented a revised transportation section that flagged a $500,000 allocation for the Summer Street and Route 20 intersection — the town's most dangerous — that has gone unspent.
