Weston Traffic Committee Defers Bike Route Vote, Eyes January Agenda

WESTON — December 18, 2025 — Weston Traffic and Sidewalk Committee reviews $20M-plus Route 30 project and defers bicycle route vote to January. At the December 18 hybrid meeting, chaired for the first time by Dan Patnaud, the committee briefed Unified Planning Committee representative Jim Palumbo on a slate of capital projects, including the Route 30 reconstruction — a 3.7-mile corridor redesign now estimated well above $20 million in construction value, with $1.1 million already spent of a $1.5 million design budget. Member Jay Doyle said the pre-75-percent design submittal from consultant Howard Stein Hudson is expected in January, triggering a required round of public meetings before any Select Board recommendation. A vote on endorsing a national U.S. bicycle route mapping proposal from the Adventure Cycling Association was deferred to the January 14 meeting to allow full committee participation. The Route 20 and Wellesley Street signalized intersection project, fully funded by MassDOT, is on track for construction start in fiscal year 2026.
