Weston CPC reviews four project proposals totaling more than $800,000

WESTON — January 29, 2018 — Weston Community Preservation Committee reviews four projects and $800,000-plus in potential spending ahead of spring town meeting. At the January 29 session, presenters sought funding for a $45,000 Case Park native-plant restoration, a $200,000 placeholder for rail trail parking expected to open this spring, a $75,000 Ash Street pedestrian path design, and a $700,000 Miriam Street sidewalk construction. Chris Sticks of the Rail Trail Committee said Niche Engineering is on contract to refine the parking figure by March 15, noting the lack of designated trail parking is urgent because "when the trail opens, where do people park?" The Traffic and Sidewalk Committee's Clint described Miriam Street as checking "all the hardest boxes for construction in Weston," including a boardwalk over Cherry Brook, wetland permitting, and a contested permanent easement. No votes were taken on the proposals; a public hearing is scheduled for March 26.
