Weston Conservation Commission Issues Six Votes, Advances Agroforestry License Talks

WESTON — October 3, 2023 — Weston Conservation Commission backs agroforestry license talks and clears two compliance matters in busy October session. The four-member commission, chaired by Rees Tulloss, gave informal consensus approval Tuesday for Yale School of the Environment certificate student Turner Frankoski to negotiate a license agreement with Conservation Administrator Jordan for a phased blueberry and native-pollinator planting project on the Sears Conservation Land, with a target planting date of spring 2024. The commission also voted unanimously to issue a Certificate of Compliance for additions at 200 Lexington Street (DEP file 337-1421) and to close a notice of violation at 10 Woodward Lane, where a contractor had previously placed fill on conservation land. A notice of intent hearing for a new three-bedroom dwelling at 183 Conant Road — a three-quarter-acre lot sitting entirely within the 100-foot wetland buffer — was continued to November 7 after commissioners flagged encroachments into the 25-foot no-disturbance zone and missing wetland flags. The commission issued a notice of non-significance for 12 Robin Road after the applicant redesigned the project to pull nearly all work outside commission jurisdiction, leaving only two oak trees and a pine within the buffer.
