Weston Conservation Commission approves Warren Place drainage fix, issues multiple permits

WESTON — February 28, 2023 — Weston Conservation Commission approves drainage project to fix a flooding problem that has gone unaddressed since a 2000 DPW study. Chair Rees Tulloss and members Ellen Freeman Roth and two others voted unanimously at the February 28 meeting to issue an Order of Conditions for 1 Warren Place, where a chronically undersized culvert on Warren Avenue has sent stream overflow into the homeowner's driveway and garage for years; the approved fix involves a 1,500-gallon pump chamber, a duplex pump system, and a subsurface stormwater chamber designed to improve water quality before discharge into the municipal system. The commission also heard Land Sake Farm's annual report, in which Farm Manager Brendan Murth reported a record harvest of 160,000 pounds of produce in 2022 — surpassing the prior record by more than 30,000 pounds despite the driest growing season in his 15-year career — and 60 gallons of maple syrup from roughly 450 taps. Conservation staff reported that 44 deer were harvested in 2022 under the town's deer management program, up from 30 in 2021, with a fuller presentation to the Select Board scheduled for March 14.
