Weston Conservation Commission adopts town's first wetlands regulations

WESTON — March 26, 2024 — Weston Conservation Commission adopts the town's first-ever wetlands protection regulations. The 5-0 vote on March 26 capped roughly 10 months of drafting alongside KP Law attorney Connor Mullen and implements a bylaw Town Meeting approved in May 2023; the rules now go to the Select Board, which has 90 days to act. Chair Joe Berman, who announced he will resign this spring after about a decade on the board because he is moving out of Weston, called it the first wetlands bylaw "in our town's history." The same meeting denied a 1993 aquatic management permit extension at 77 Possum Road on Hobbs Pond, approved a one-year agroforestry license at the Sears Land for Yale capstone student Turner Frankoski, and endorsed an Eagle Scout fitness-station project on the Legacy Trail. Member Alison Fronk Barlow said roughly 4.3 acres must be swapped out of Article 97 protection for three new water tanks.
