Planning Board reviews revised draft vision statement for Weston Unified Plan

WESTON — February 11, 2025 — Weston Planning Board endorses direction of revised Unified Plan vision draft. At a Feb. 11 joint meeting with the Unified Planning Committee and consultant Barrett Planning Group, Chair Leslie Glynn called the six-paragraph revised vision statement "a really, really, really nice improvement," while suggesting the first two paragraphs be merged. UPC Chair Lori Hess said the committee would meet again Feb. 12 at 4 p.m. to further revise the draft. Consultant Jill Slankus walked the boards through input from a 43-question survey of 593 respondents — 94.6 percent Weston residents — plus a December Weston High School session and more than a dozen tabling events. Member Timothy Shawn Lanier praised recurring themes of character, inclusion and conservation; UPC member Bob Scott warned against assuming current zoning and open-space protections will hold "five, 10, 20 or 30 years from now." The full Unified Plan is targeted for completion by the end of 2025.
