Weston Planning Board rejects Chase Bank tree removal, lighting plan

WESTON — February 5, 2025 — Weston Planning Board rebuffs JPMorgan Chase lighting and tree-removal plan for town center branch. Chair Leslie Glynn told Stonefield Engineering's Josh Klein the board would not approve cutting three trees or installing 18-foot poles in a center the town spent roughly $12 million renovating. Klein cited Illuminating Engineering Society minimums of 10 foot-candles within five feet of ATMs and pending state bill H.929 as the basis for the design. Member Jing Yu noted parking-area lighting would jump from 0.3 to three foot-candles, and Vice Chair Alex Selvig said the proposed fixtures were "completely different" from existing town center lighting. Tree Advisory Group member Barbara Fullerton said two of the marked trees shade the Heirloom seating area and Brothers Marketplace entrance. Separately, the board accepted Manor North's reduction from 20 to 17 age-restricted units, with Glynn noting the change forecloses a one-year 40B safe harbor.
