Planning Board reviews Greatland biotech design, approves Case Estates subdivision

WESTON — September 22, 2021 — Weston Planning Board opens design review of Greatland's Riverside biotech revival, endorses Case Estates subdivision. Chair Leslie Glynn and Town Planner Imai laid out a meeting-by-meeting schedule targeting a Dec. 15 decision on the redevelopment of 9, 11 and 15 Riverside Road — the former Liberty Mutual campus rezoned for life sciences last year — with traffic on Oct. 6, landscape on Oct. 20, lighting on Nov. 3 and noise on Nov. 17. Greatland's development agreement obligates two $1 million affordable-housing payments, a land swap, a housing study and a $3 million commitment tied to a potential rail crossing. Resident Judy Nitsch of 17 Blake Road criticized proposed 11- and 12-foot Park Road lanes and a shared-use path she called impractical for northbound cyclists. The board separately approved 4-0, with member Steven Oppenheimer abstaining as an abutter, the Case Estates ANR plan presented by Michael Harrity, conditioning the sign-off on added Legacy Trail easement language across Lot 9.
