Planning Board approves water tank letter of intent in 5-0 vote

WESTON — October 2, 2024 — Weston Planning Board locks in water tank review role and opens zoning hearing. The board voted 5-0 to approve a letter of intent with the Select Board memorializing Planning Board recommendations on screening, native plantings, dark-sky lighting, a two-year watering program and invasive-species monitoring for five years across the water tank replacement project, with design review at the 30, 45 and 60 percent milestones. Vice Chair Alex Selvig called it "pretty exemplary" collaboration. The proposed zoning amendment would allow water tanks up to 410 feet total elevation under NAVD88; the new Cat Rock tank would reach 100 feet above grade and Doublet Hill 108 feet, against a 70-to-80-foot canopy. Cat Rock abutter Michael Chasen disputed the siting, saying "there is room" on the existing tank footprint. The hearing was continued to Oct. 16.
