Kendal Common study group adopts Crescent Street bylaw as template

WESTON — January 23, 2025 — Kendal Common study group adopts Crescent Street bylaw as its structural template. At the Jan. 23 meeting, member Alicia Primer reported that the proposed Kendal Common Local Historic District will be created by amending the existing Crescent Street Local Historic District bylaw to add specific Kendal Common properties, a path that requires only a simple-majority Town Meeting vote. Primer said state law allows house-by-house inclusion, citing a Crescent Street home left out because it is addressed to Boston Post Road. Members Henry Stone and David Fixler were tasked with drafting neighborhood design guidelines — focused largely on exterior changes and window replacements — in time for the Kendal Common neighborhood association's Feb. 3 board meeting and Feb. 5 annual meeting. "It's easier to understand something concrete, like a list, than it is in theory," Primer said. Neighborhood Representative Rick Brotman will decide with his board whether to invite a study group member to answer residents' questions. The group meets again Feb. 20.
