Historical Commission approves Glenn Road porch, conditions Boston Post Road windows

WESTON — May 27, 2020 — Weston Historical Commission rejects vinyl windows at 544 Boston Post Road and clears Glenn Road porch addition. Owner Alfred Pace agreed to swap his proposed Harvey vinyl inserts for clad composite Pella or Marvin units after members Henry S. Stone, Jr. and Alfred Aydelott cited 20-year failure histories on solid vinyl. "The vinyl deteriorates from UV," Stone said. The 7-0 approval requires four-over-four muntins on narrower windows and six-over-six on wider ones, with final material sign-off delegated to Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern and member Steve Wagner. The commission also voted 7-0 to impose no demolition delay on a 15-foot screened porch at owner Elizabeth Wilder's 1922 home at 271 Glenn Road, contingent on Zoning Board of Appeals approval of the nonconforming setback. A hearing on 770 Boston Post Road, a Samuel Mead-designed 1892 house, was continued to June 23.
