Finance Committee defers position on 751 Boston Post Road purchase pending appraisal
WESTON — February 13, 2019 — Weston Finance Committee tells Select Board it lacks information to recommend on 51-acre farm purchase. The committee voted Feb. 13 to formally request the appraisal and acreage breakdown for 751 Boston Post Road before taking a position on the town's right of first refusal under Chapter 61A, after the town received a Feb. 1 conversion notice triggering a 30-day window. The town manager said the appraisal will cost $3,000 to $5,000 and rollback taxes total roughly $40,000 over five years. The Select Board decides Feb. 26. "We don't have no opinion. We just don't have the information," one member said. Separately, DPW Director Tom told the committee that achieving a pavement condition index of 70 on all town roads requires $2.5 million annually for 10 years; the town spent $1.8 million last year, raising the average PCI from 71 to 74.
