Finance Committee approves report, backs stabilization fund warrant

Weston Finance Committee unanimously approved its annual report and agreed to champion a stabilization fund warrant article. The six-member committee met March 27 chaired by Bharath Venkataraman with members Jonathan Harris, Rebecca Kantar, Sarat Pothuri, Maija Cirulis-Gooch, and Rui Zhang present, along with Town Manager Leon Gaumond and Finance Director Susan Kelley. The committee refined language in its Town Meeting report warning that while direct federal aid cuts are not known, the state may receive reduced funding and allocate less to local governments.
The committee reached consensus to support the stabilization fund after the Select Board declined to address it.
