Conservation Commission issues enforcement order over unpermitted pool-project work

WESTON — November 10, 2020 — Weston Conservation Commission issues 49 Worcester Drive enforcement order and hires $16,750 in peer reviewers. Chair Joe Berman led a four-hearing Nov. 10 meeting that unanimously ordered an after-the-fact cleanup at 49 Worcester Drive — fence relocated snug against or atop the existing retaining wall, native plantings in the no-disturb zone, and a shed moved at least 50 feet from the wetland edge — to allow the seller to close out a 2014 pool permit. The commission voted to retain wetland scientist Pat Garner for $750 to re-verify flag locations at 667 Wellesley Street, where Tetra Tech's Bill Doyle is proposing a new home with a rain garden in the riverfront area, and engaged stormwater engineer Tom Houston for a $16,000 lump sum on the 518/540 South Avenue project. Both peer reviews are applicant-funded under MGL Chapter 44 Section 53G. Both hearings continue Dec. 1. Conservation Administrator Michelle told members rain gardens in Weston tend to "become mulch" within years, pressing for alternatives.
