Weston Sustainability Committee appoints Rose Li to school building committee. The committee unanimously selected Rose Li to represent sustainability interests on the newly formed school building committee overseeing early-stage school facilities planning. The town's school facilities account for its largest carbon footprint.
In separate business, the committee discussed renewal of Weston's power choice contract, due by September, and reviewed renewable energy investment options similar to projects in Cambridge and Nantucket as renewable energy credit prices have risen 10 to 15 percent. Committee Chair Nicholas Christman plans to present renewable energy recommendations to the Select Board. Facilities Director John Marzec emphasized reducing energy consumption as critical for net-zero goals.
