WESTON — Board of Library Trustees approves sculpture donation and reviews capital needs. Chair Susan Scott and the board voted unanimously to accept a sculpture from Joe Ferguson for the Art in the Community program, contingent on a memorandum of understanding with AIC oversight. Director John Marzec and Deputy Director Irina Makucha presented a capital-needs overview, noting the library's HVAC system is 33 years old and exceeding its designed lifespan.
The town is exploring geothermal energy conversion as part of a commitment to become 50 percent green by 2035, with geothermal systems capable of offsetting 60 to 70 percent of building energy usage; three town buildings are scheduled for a May town meeting vote on conversion.
