Weston ZBA Grants Special Permit for Wellesley Street Home Renovation

WESTON — January 4, 2023 — Weston's Zoning Board of Appeals granted one special permit and continued two other cases at its January 4 meeting. The board, chaired by Jane Fisher Carlson and joined by members Wendy Kaplan Amour and Associate Member Laura Mintz, voted unanimously to approve a special permit for the renovation of a single-family home at 676 Wellesley Street, allowing owner Joseph Scaparatta and 676 Wellesley Street LLC to add a full second story, raising the home from roughly 19 feet to approximately 32 feet 7 inches and expanding it from 2,976 to 4,440 square feet; the permit incorporates the Conservation Commission's order of conditions. A hearing for Cutting Edge Homes on a new home at 225 Winter Street was continued to January 11 after Carlson publicly rebuked the petitioner for submitting 56 pages of materials the morning of the hearing. A variance request from CNL Home LLC for a newly built home at 506 North Avenue — which stands 14 to 15 inches above the 37-foot height limit due to a CAD drafting error — was continued to February 7, with the board directing the applicant to first obtain a corrected certificate of action from the planning board.
