Weston voters approve water tank land swap, zoning change and $40 million package

WESTON — March 14, 2025 — Weston voters approve water tanks in lopsided special town meeting votes. Town Manager Leon Gaumond, in a "Select Board Rewind" recap, said nearly 400 residents turned out March 12 to reconsider three citizen-petitioned articles brought by Alan Day. A land swap and Article 97 filing passed 318-32; a bid by a Cat Rock abutter to drop that site failed 28-311. A zoning bylaw setting a separate height limit for water tanks passed 318-24, with Planning Board member Sean Lanier and Select Board member Lori Bent presenting. At Chair Tom Palmer's urging, the appropriation was split: $2 million in free cash for design cleared 320-12, and borrowing for the "nearly $40 million" full project passed 279-40. The Finance Committee unanimously backed the roughly $110 million fiscal 2026 operating budget on March 13.
