Weston Select Board Holds Residential Tax Rate at Parity for Fiscal 2023
WESTON — November 29, 2022 — Weston Select Board unanimously adopts a 1.00 residential tax classification factor for fiscal 2023. The board held its annual tax classification public hearing with Board of Assessors Chair Gary Koger and Principal Assessor Eric Josephson recommending the town maintain parity across all property classes, as it does every year. The projected fiscal 2023 tax rate is $11.84 per thousand dollars of assessed value, down nearly a dollar from the current $12.81, driven by sharply higher residential values based on 2021 sales. Josephson noted Weston recorded a new-growth high of roughly $202 million in new assessed value — more than 50 new homes — generating nearly $149 million in tax revenue. No residents offered public comment during the hearing.
