Weston Planning Board Closes Black Oak Hearing, Advances Corwood Road Project

WESTON — July 24, 2024 — Weston Planning Board advances two residential projects and absorbs a MassDOT setback on Greatland traffic calming. At the July 24 hybrid meeting, Chair Leslie Glynn and members Alex Selvig, Jing Yu, and Lori Hess voted unanimously to close the public hearing on a squash court addition at 100 Black Oak Road, where revised plans reduced the ridge height from 31 feet to approximately 26 feet, 11.5 inches by lowering the roof pitch from 13-and-12 to 9-and-12. The board also approved an administrative decision on 73 Corwood Road after the applicant cut front-elevation glazing from 54 percent to 30 percent. Town Planner Emi Ayau disclosed that MassDOT had formally rejected a permit for Park Road traffic calming improvements tied to the Greatland development, forcing the town to pursue a financial contribution instead of completed construction — an outcome Glynn called "not ideal." On MBTA 3A multifamily zoning, Ayau reported the board has achieved roughly 40 percent of its required compliance area and must hold formal public hearings by early October, with the zoning strategy for the remaining 60 percent to be set in September. Outgoing Assistant Town Planner Christine Zale was recognized at the close of the meeting on what colleagues described as her last night with the board.
