Weston Planning Board Clears Path for Zero Hemlock Subdivision Review

WESTON — December 7, 2022 — Weston Planning Board clears legal hurdle on Zero Hemlock subdivision and scrutinizes water tank forum process. Town Counsel Jonathan Whitten told the board at its December 7 meeting that the contested Zero Hemlock Road flexible subdivision application presented a "colorable claim" sufficient to proceed, over title objections from abutters' counsel, and the board voted unanimously to continue the hearing to January 4. At 297 Meadowbrook Road, the board learned the project's RGFA had been revised upward to 13,011 square feet after a 949-square-foot tennis cabana was omitted from prior calculations, and Chair Leslie Glynn called for an independent sustainability consultant to vet the project's passive solar claims. At 645 Wellesley Street, members told applicant Olivia the house remained too large and too forward on its lot, continuing that hearing to January 4 as well. Member Timothy Shawn Lanier warned that planned Select Board water tank forums, expected in February, lack published dates, formats, or confirmed content — a concern given the May Town Meeting warrant must be finalized by late March.
