Weston Planning Board advances Town Center bid review, schedules special continuation meeting

WESTON — November 14, 2018 — Weston Planning Board spends four hours on Town Center bid plans, approves four amendments. The board worked through more than 200 sheets of civil engineering and utility documents for the Town Center infrastructure overhaul — covering roadway, drainage, landscaping, and a possible underground-utility deduct alternate estimated to exceed the cost of the roadway work itself — but ran out of time before finishing, scheduling a special continuation session for November 19 at 7:30 p.m., with bids due that same day and a 60-day award window running to mid-January. Members raised unresolved concerns about the offset four-way stop at Church and School streets, a proposed Townhouse Road crosswalk that one member called "a crosswalk to nowhere" because no connecting sidewalk exists on the far side, and the placement of multiple above-ground electrical switches and transformers required by Eversource. The board voted unanimously to remove a damaged red maple at 123 Newton Street under the scenic road bylaw, modify a special permit for attic-finishing work at 6 Fox Meadow, and approve site plan amendments for 85 Chestnut Street and 162 Highland Street, with the 10 Sudbury Road decision and the scenic road replacement tree location both continued to December 5.
