Weston Planning Board advances 200-unit senior housing talks at Boston Post Road

WESTON — October 25, 2017 — Weston Planning Board study committee reports progress on 160-to-200-unit senior housing proposal for 133 Boston Post Road. The committee told the board at its October 25 meeting that Boston Properties — represented by Mike Cantalupa and Keir Evans — has agreed not to place a development agreement amendment on the fall town meeting warrant, with a special town meeting this winter or the May 2018 annual town meeting now possible targets. Benchmark, a regional senior housing developer headquartered on Jones Road in Weston, expressed interest in a program of 160 to 200 units; the committee said such a project would generate roughly 400 to 500 vehicle trips per day compared to an estimated 1,400 to 1,500 for the general family housing proposal currently on the table, and could bring the town close to Chapter 40B safe harbor, for which it is approximately 50 units short. The committee said it hopes to deliver a recommendation to the Board of Selectmen by December, though no firm deadline was set.
