Weston Planning Board advances marijuana ban, Winter Street subdivision, and generator approval

WESTON — November 1, 2017 — Weston Planning Board unanimously recommends banning recreational marijuana establishments as fall town meeting approaches. At the November 1 meeting, the board voted to recommend adoption of both a zoning bylaw and a companion general bylaw prohibiting commercial recreational marijuana businesses in town — two identical articles placed in separate sections of the town code per guidance from town counsel KP Law. The board also approved a generator installation at 78 Chestnut Street, contingent on a written decision at the November 15 meeting, while noting a pre-existing double-cut driveway on the property would be scrutinized in any future site plan modification. The bulk of the meeting was consumed by the 265 and 275 Winter Street flexible subdivision, for which the board approved 10 subdivision-regulation waivers and issued a certificate of action for the four-lot flexible subdivision special permit, with conditions explicitly prohibiting roadway lighting without board approval. An Autumn Road application was continued to December 6 pending revised septic, civil, and landscape plans following a Board of Health request to relocate the proposed septic system.
