School Committee · Meeting of September 28, 2026

Weston School Committee backs $2.75 million for school building design study. The committee voted unanimously Monday to support a Special Town Meeting warrant article, set for November 23, seeking $2.75 million for feasibility and schematic design work on a combined middle school/high school campus project. Member Kenneth Newberg said the district faces an estimated $172 million in high school repair costs regardless of outcome, while Chair Daina Selvig said "the do-nothing approach is not actually a zero-cost approach for the town." The meeting also featured a tense backdrop: parents Rob Bateman and Beth Clymer presented data showing Weston met just three of 24 district academic targets and posted the lowest AP pass rate among six peer districts, ahead of an October 5 vote on Superintendent Dr.

Zaleski's contract renewal. The committee also approved four federal grants totaling $139,927 and referred a disputed staff handbook, found to conflict with policy in 18 places, to its Governance Subcommittee.
