Weston Historical Commission Clears Way for Fisk House Restoration

WESTON — February 4, 2019 — Weston Historical Commission unanimously approves restoration of the 1867 Fisk House at 215 Boston Post Road. Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern presided as the commission voted to find the property historically significant and to not oppose the planned renovation, with Member Alfred Aydelott moving that "the proposed changes are in character with the original fabric of the house and are sympathetic with the style of the build." The owners and their architect Kent Duckham presented plans to remove 1980s alterations from the rear of the house, rebuild a period porch based on an 1870 photograph, and match the existing 250-year Vermont slate roof. The commission also elected Steve Wagner as the body's new co-chair and set its next meeting for March 6; a separate discussion on a potential preservation restriction for 500 Wellesley Street ended without resolution, with members divided over whether a two-facade agreement would be sufficient before a town meeting vote on adjoining land.
