Weston Historical Commission Approves Three Hearings, Nominates Boston Post Road for Historic District Study

WESTON — February 20, 2018 — Weston Historical Commission conditionally approves windows, allows vinyl siding, and nominates 104 Boston Post Road for historic district study. At its February 20 meeting, the commission conditionally approved window replacements at a 1932 home at 37 Partridge Hill Road, pending consultation with restoration contractors, and voted to allow vinyl siding at the 1927 bungalow at 16 Jones Road on condition that wood corner boards be used as trim stops. The commission also accepted design changes for a rear garage addition at 527 Boston Post Road. Member Alfred Aydelott, describing his own 1846 home, argued that original wood windows "should last your lifetime" and that modern replacement windows often fail within 15 to 20 years. In other business, the commission voted to nominate 104 Boston Post Road for investigation as a local historic district, deferred a third preservation-restriction appraisal to avoid a bid-splitting issue under the town's $10,000 procurement threshold, and acknowledged a letter from Secretary of the Commonwealth William Francis Galvin praising the commission's submission of two area forms and 50 B-forms to the Massachusetts Historical Commission inventory.
