WESTON — April 14, 2025 — Weston Fire Station Working Group hears $52 million combined cost estimate for two-station program. Co-Chairs Tom Palmer and Jim Polando led the April 14 meeting at which consultants from Tecton Architects and Vertex presented reconciled third-party estimates: a new 24,400-square-foot primary station at the middle school entrance at $37.7 million total project cost, and a $14.7 million renovation of the Center Street station as a secondary facility, including demolition of the South Station. The figures, escalated to a January 2027 construction start, are roughly $8 million below the town's earlier proposal, though members noted the old estimate did not reflect Weston's adopted stretch energy code, making the true savings likely larger. Net zero add-ons range from $466,000 for additional solar carports to $1.4 million for geothermal. The group plans to seek a land transfer from the School Department and primary-station design funds at Fall Town Meeting, currently anticipated for November 2025.
