Weston Conservation Commission Continues Burchard Park Pickleball Hearing to February 14

WESTON — January 31, 2023 — Weston Conservation Commission continued a notice of intent for six new pickleball courts at Burchard Park, pending stormwater and legal review. Landscape architect Patrick McGuire of Activitas presented plans for four competition-size and two accessible courts on town conservation land between the park's parking area and the Campion Center access road, a project that would remove roughly 62 trees and require invasive-species mitigation along College Pond. Conservation staff advised against closing the hearing, citing an unresolved administrative stormwater permit with the engineering department and open questions about the park's Memorandum of Understanding; the hearing was continued to February 14 at 8:30 p.m. In other action, the four-member quorum unanimously closed the 57 Westcliff Road Notice of Intent and issued an Order of Conditions, granted a Certificate of Compliance for 15 Warren Place (DEP file 337-1407), recommended resident Sean Rush to the Select Board for appointment to a vacant commission seat, and unanimously approved a new Meadow Management Framework covering approximately 30 fields totaling roughly 90 acres, a document stewardship staffer Emily Shadler said would support future Community Preservation Act funding requests and restructured mowing contracts.
