Weston Conservation Commission Advances Culvert, Drainage Projects in Single Session

WESTON — March 15, 2022 — Weston Conservation Commission voted unanimously on five matters Tuesday and continued a contested new-home proposal for two weeks pending revised plans and a wildlife expert's opinion. The commission, meeting with five members present under Chair Rees Tulloss, issued a Certificate of Compliance for 104 Meadowbrook Road and approved a negative-5 RDA for a failed leaching-basin and drain-pipe replacement at 180 Meadowbrook Road after the Cambridge Water Department submitted comments calling the project an improvement to existing conditions. The board also closed the hearing on a Weston DPW Notice of Intent to replace the fieldstone Bogle Brook culvert under Sherburn Circle with a four-foot-eight-inch by nine-foot precast concrete box culvert, targeted for mid-summer construction pending town meeting funding in late May. The 120 Rockport Road home application — sited between the 25- and 50-foot no-disturb zones of a Bordering Vegetated Wetland — was continued to March 29 after peer-review consultant Pat Garner said he remained "doubtful" a proposed one-to-one rock-stabilized retaining wall would meaningfully facilitate wildlife movement near a potential vernal pool roughly 150 to 180 feet away.
