Traffic Committee reviews Route 30 shared-use path design in listening session

Weston Traffic Committee holds listening session on Route 30 design. The committee heard from Howard Stein Hudson representatives, including Bridget Myers (Associate Principal, Manager of Roadway Design), on the draft 75% design for Route 30 from the Natick town line to Wellesley Street. The shared-use path design would remove approximately 350 trees including some over 180 years old, drawing extensive public concern about "wrong way cyclist" safety issues with insufficient buffer separation from vehicles traveling 40-45 mph, driveway access impacts, and connectivity to existing sidewalks.
Committee Chair Ann Wiedie indicated the committee would consider scheduling another public meeting before making its recommendation to the Select Board.
