Riverside Housing Working Group sets 10% affordability minimum for revised RFP
Riverside Housing Working Group · Meeting of January 29, 2026
WESTON — Riverside Housing Working Group establishes 10% affordability minimum for revised development RFP. Shifting from a previous all-affordable model, the working group determined that a blend of market-rate and affordable units—with a floor of 10 percent affordable—would help meet Weston's Subsidized Housing Inventory requirements. The town's current SHI is 8.5 percent; a new housing production plan of 20 units would satisfy state requirements.
Town Planner Imai Aiu explained that projects meeting fair housing standards can count toward SHI with 20 percent affordable and 80 percent market-rate units. Members will continue refining RFP language sections toward a May Town Meeting deadline.
