Rail Trail Committee Votes to Seek No-Parking Ban on Conant Road During Construction
WESTON — April 12, 2018 — Weston's Rail Trail Advisory Committee voted to recommend temporary no-parking restrictions on Conant Road for the duration of active rail trail construction. The committee acted Thursday after member Paul brought forward a complaint from abutter Terry Eastman, who reported that a construction worker's vehicle along Conant Road had created a safety hazard. The police chief confirmed parking is currently legal there but an on-site review suggested it should be discouraged, with concern that workers parking on the road would use steep, erosion-prone slopes as trail access points. The committee voted unanimously to recommend that the police department and the Traffic and Sidewalk Committee post temporary no-parking signs and restrict trail access entirely during construction, which is expected to conclude around mid-August. Members also opened a preliminary discussion on a complaint-handling process for construction-related issues, with the topic carried to the committee's April 23 meeting.
