Planning Board recommends Riverside Road zoning with timing caveat in 4-1 vote

WESTON — May 12, 2021 — Weston Planning Board advances Greatland's Riverside Road zoning 4-1 but flags voter notice. The board recommended Article 31 with a formal reservation that May 12 changes "have not been before the public for enough time for sufficient consideration," advising Town Meeting to recess to a date certain if voters agree. Member Alex Selvig cast the lone no vote, saying "the integrity of this board would suffer" if it forwarded last-minute changes. Greatland agreed during the meeting to require a special permit for any vivarium, accessory or primary, after extended debate; Safety Partners consultant Beth Graham told the board on-site vivariums typically run under 2,500 square feet. The board also voted 5-0 to ask the Select Board to pass over Article 28, the proposed sale of Louisa's Wall — a 110-year-old structure Member Leslie Glynn called the largest freestanding dry-laid wall in New England — and 5-0 to refer the multiple-dwelling Articles 30 and 32 to committee. Town Meeting convenes Saturday.
