Planning Board defers Meadowbrook pool after learning house was moved without approval

WESTON — February 24, 2021 — Weston Planning Board defers 104 Meadowbrook pool decision after learning house was built four feet out of approved location. Engineer Jay told members the as-built relocation was done "in the field" to benefit abutters; Vice Chair Alex Selvig called the rationale beside the point, saying the developer "bypass[ed]" the board's regulatory role. Chair Alicia Primer told owner Ian Smith the theoretical worst case could include rebuilding the house to the approved plan. The board continued the hearing unanimously to March 31 and asked for revised front-of-property plans. Separately, Town Counsel Jonathan Witten opined a proposed 2 Fields Pond pool house met the state building code definition of a dwelling under January plans; Building Commissioner John Field then ruled the revised February plans, with cooking equipment removed, did not. That decision goes to March 17.
