Planning Board closes two RGFA hearings, approves Laurel pool relocation

WESTON — October 7, 2020 — Weston Planning Board closes two RGFA hearings and approves a Laurel Road pool relocation. Meeting remotely Oct. 7, the board voted 4-0 to close public hearings on a 10,400-square-foot RGFA house at 95 Walker Street and a scenic-road RGFA project at 5 Colchester Road, with decision reviews set for Nov. 4. The Walker Street team reported cutting impervious area by about 2,700 square feet and lawn by 3,000 square feet, adding roughly 5,600 square feet of plantings, narrowing the driveway to 12 feet and removing a Walker-facing retaining wall. At 5 Colchester, architect Bill Lorigan of Morgan Architects said the main ridge was lowered about nine inches and a rear ridge about two feet; landscape architect Joe Hawk Ryan upsized rear and east-side pines to 12-to-14 feet. The board separately voted 4-0 to approve an RGFA amendment letting homeowner Richard Kraska relocate a previously permitted pool at 15 Laurel Road closer to the house, with total exterior lighting held to roughly 18,000 lumens. Chair Leslie Glynn told 5 Colchester neighbors the project "will not make that existing problem worse" but that broader drainage complaints belonged before the DPW.
