Planning Board adopts outdoor water rules, advances Habitat affordable housing

WESTON — October 20, 2021 — Weston Planning Board adopts water conservation rules and signals support for Habitat for Humanity affordable housing. The board voted 5-0 to adopt outdoor water conservation measures developed with the Water Group, splitting items between standard conditions and guidelines after consultant Kim and member Steve Oppenheimer pushed back on policing aeration and irrigation timing. Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston President Jim Kostaris and engineer Rob Gemma presented a six-unit, three-building affordable homeownership project at Zero Wellesley Street on a constrained 3.2-acre site requiring an advanced bio-clear septic system. Park Road neighbors blasted the Greatland traffic mitigation plan as "rearranging the deck chairs," with Chair Alicia Primer pledging deference to the dormant Traffic and Sidewalk Committee, which has not met since Aug. 11. The board also approved the 161 Boston Post Road child care site plan, signed off on a Newton Street land swap, and authorized letters supporting two DCR urban forestry grants totaling $35,000.
