Conservation Commission renews Land's Sake contracts and approves 225 Winter St. grading change

WESTON — January 9, 2024 — Weston Conservation Commission renews Land's Sake contracts and clears Glen Road riverfront project. The commission unanimously approved its four calendar-year Land's Sake instruments — forest management, maple syrup, community farming and the Wellington Farm license — with Conservation Administrator Jordan noting no changes from prior years, including a $25,000 hunger-relief payment, $4,000 in maple syrup supplies and a $5-per-cord stumpage fee on town wood. Members also renewed the annual retainer with wetlands consultant Patrick Garner and issued a full Certificate of Compliance for 512 Glen Road (DEP 337-1377), closing a riverfront-area rebuild monitored over two growing seasons. A minor plan change for 225 Winter St. authorized regrading roughly 180 square feet to fix a five-foot negative grade, with owner Corey Casilla telling members, "I have every incentive for that hillside to remain as firm and as intact as is." A joint Jan. 23 meeting with the Select Board on the Cat Rock water tank remains contingent on abutter consultants submitting reviewable plans.
