Conservation Commission orders mitigation plan for Ridgeway Road tree-cutting violation

WESTON — January 21, 2025 — Weston Conservation Commission orders mitigation after homeowners cut four mature trees without a permit. The commission voted 4-0 Tuesday to require Ron and Chitra Mallor of 45 Ridgeway Road to submit a planting plan for staff approval, install mitigation in spring 2025, and undergo two years of survival monitoring after cutting four large-diameter trees — three within the 25-foot no-disturbance zone of an intermittent stream — without authorization. Conservation Administrator Jordan McCarron issued the notice of violation Jan. 6 after the Mallors began work based on two arborist reports identifying hazards. The unsurveyed boundary with abutter Carol McMullen at 55 Ridgeway Road may put some cut trees on McMullen's land. "We did not mean any ill intent," Chitra Mallor said. The commission also approved a Boy Scout Eagle project for three bog bridges in Nolte Forest and authorized a letter supporting a town ban on second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides on town property.
