Conservation Commission lifts pandemic leash rule on Weston conservation land

WESTON — April 27, 2021 — Weston Conservation Commission lifts COVID-era leash order, approves high school pond cleanup. The commission voted 7-0 to accept the Emergency Management Team's recommendation ending the year-old leash requirement on conservation land, with acting chair Joe Berman noting "there's no longer a COVID-based reason to keep the leash order in place." Members flagged Cat Rock dog-waste problems for a separate future discussion. The commission also approved a notice of intent for hydraulic raking and a multi-year aquatic-management program at the Weston High School pond, presented by SOLitude Lake Management and endorsed by peer reviewer Patrick Garner as a "rare thumbs up." A resident's request to ride dirt bikes on conservation fire roads was sent back for consultation with the fire chief, police chief and Weston Forest and Trail, with member Alison Barlow opposing motorized vehicles on trails "100 percent, vehemently."
