Conservation Commission approves golf-club green rebuild and six-lot North Avenue subdivision

WESTON — September 8, 2020 — Conservation Commission clears Weston Golf Club practice green and 576 North Ave. subdivision in unanimous votes. Chair Joe Berman led a 7-0 close on Robert Gemma's six-lot flexible subdivision on the 8.06-acre Harrington estate at the Lincoln line, with stormwater handled through 96 concrete infiltration galleys that Gemma said cut direct wetland runoff by 30 to 40 percent in larger storms. Bill Doyle's Weston Golf Club plan removes two sand traps straddling the 25-foot no-disturb line of a former irrigation pond and lets 658 square feet of mowed turf revert to a naturalized buffer; member Cynthia Chapra recused as an abutter, the rest voted yes. Wetland consultant David Burke told members there was "no impact, perceptible or perceivable impact to the resource area." Members also warned they may lose jurisdiction over the contested 518 South Ave. project if abutters win a pending Superior Court injunction.
