Weston Unified Plan Committee Presents Draft Vision at Community Forum

WESTON — March 20, 2025 — Weston's Unified Plan Committee presented a draft vision statement Thursday, moving toward the town's first master plan since 1965. Committee Chair Danielle Black opened the forum alongside the nine-member committee, town planner Ima Ayu, and consulting firm Barrett Planning Group, which helped compile results from two community surveys drawing a combined 770-plus responses. Nature, community, and schools ranked as residents' top priorities; retail options, sidewalks, and housing diversity topped the list of desired changes. The sole substantive public commenter, a resident identified only as Leslie, called parts of the vision "verbose" and said some passages left her unsure "what you're trying to say." Barrett Planning Group consultant Jill pushed back, urging the committee to move forward rather than over-refine the six-paragraph aspirational statement. The committee is tentatively scheduled to vote on a final vision at an April 1 meeting, with a completed unified plan targeted for January 2026.
