Weston School Committee Closes Fiscal Year With Five Unanimous Votes

WESTON — June 29, 2023 — Weston School Committee closes fiscal year with five unanimous votes and defers WEA contract document to July. At the June 29 remote session, Chair Daina Selvig led the five-member committee through back-to-back 5-0 votes authorizing participation in the 2023 Metro West Adolescent Health Survey, approving all secondary course section overrides for the coming year, adopting a second reading of updated anti-bullying prevention plan language, ratifying fiscal year 2024 budget line-item transfers reflecting new contractual obligations under the recently ratified Weston Education Association successor agreement, and passing an omnibus consent agenda covering June 12 meeting minutes, a new three-year Children's Center of Weston rental contract, and the end-of-year payment warrant. The proposed 2023-2026 WEA comprehensive contract document, the original reason for calling the session, was pulled without a vote after Selvig said the finalized text had not reached committee members in time and would be presented at the July 12 meeting.
