Weston School Committee approves warrant, advances equity audit firm selection

WESTON — April 25, 2022 — Weston School Committee receives METCO annual reports and advances equity audit search at first in-person Boston meeting since 2019. The committee, meeting April 25 at the Arts Institute location in Boston, heard METCO Director Latoya Rivers detail a graduating class with acceptances to dozens of colleges and one student admitted to the Naval Academy's preparatory program, and received a Boston Weston METCO Parent League report citing $6,500 in scholarships awarded to six recipients in 2020-2021. Assistant Superintendent Dr. Kimo Carter told the committee that two equity audit firms — Mass Insight and the Leadership Academy — have been interviewed and a survey of DEI committee members is being tabulated, with pre-work expected before year's end, a full audit launch targeted for October 2022, and a root cause analysis report due to the committee by January 2023. The committee unanimously approved a consent agenda including a warrant of $2,479,209 and voted to accept Arbor Day tree donations from Eversource and approve a football preseason camp running August 20 through 24.
