WESTON — October 8, 2021 — Weston School Committee unanimously accepts five school improvement plans after elementary principals present aligned K-5 rollout. The Oct. 8 meeting centered on a joint presentation by Field Principal Dan Green, Woodland Principal Jen Faber and Country Principal Erin McGuire detailing Lucy Calkins reading expansion to Field, a new third-grade Cornerstones social studies curriculum, an Illustrative Math pilot in K-1, and a multi-tiered system of supports with four annual data team cycles. Green called the new social studies program the "polar opposite" of memorization-driven history. Superintendent Dr. Midge Connolly said the Weston Board of Health voted to keep the K-12 mask mandate in place "for the foreseeable future," with a high school reexamination set for early November. The committee also voted unanimously to adopt a revised purchasing and bidding policy aligning with MGL Chapter 30B and to rescind the prior Nov. 21, 2011 policy.
