Weston Planning Board tables motion to replace chair after power outage

WESTON — January 8, 2020 — Weston Planning Board tables motion to replace its chair as town hall loses power mid-debate. Member Alicia moved during citizen comment to install a co-chair structure naming herself, member Sue and acting chair Steve, citing recusals by Chair Tony from a contested fall zoning matter at 255 Merriam Street and "a very real threat of lawsuits." Tony, who said he had consulted the State Ethics Commission three times and obtained written counsel, called for town counsel to be present before any vote: "I'm puzzled about what to do here." A townwide-area power failure interrupted the discussion; members tabled the motion unanimously and aimed for a Jan. 14 working session. The board also unanimously approved a response to an Open Meeting Law complaint from resident Kristen Barbieri and closed the public hearing on a 5,483-square-foot new home at 15 Pinecroft Road.
