Weston Planning Board sends age-restricted multifamily bylaw to Select Board
WESTON — March 6, 2024 — Weston Planning Board sends 55-plus multifamily zoning to Select Board, with affordability left to project-by-project deals. The 4-0 vote Wednesday forwards a draft bylaw allowing age-restricted multifamily housing in historically significant buildings to the Select Board's March 12 meeting; two public hearings would follow on March 20 and April 24. Members struck a 20-unit cap from the draft, opting to set density through negotiated development agreements modeled on the Riverside Road precedent. Chair Leslie Glynn argued for a 10 percent affordability floor to keep the town's Subsidized Housing Inventory from "losing ground"; Vice Chair Alex Selvig pushed for 25 percent, saying two affordable units in a 20-unit project amounts to "just treading water." The board separately approved removal of three oaks along Riverside Road for a Greatland Realty Partners wastewater tank expansion, with four five-to-six-inch red oaks as replacement.
